Klopp Considering Dropping Shaqiri From Belgrade Visit

Xherdan Shaqiri has proved an extremely worthwhile signing for Liverpool since he came from Stoke this summer, but it has been announced that he will not travel to Serbia for their Champions League against Red Star Belgrade.

Liverpool have officially revealed their starting eleven and substitutes to take on Red Star Belgrade in an away Champions League group stage clash this evening.

Liverpool were held in their last Premier League game and dropped to third in the league table, so they will look to get back to winning ways.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner told United Kingdom broadcaster BT Sport that Liverpool had problems "all over the field" in the first half and never properly recovered.

Being ready for that should include Shaqiri, who has the skill to make sure Liverpool come away from the game with three points.

The Reds are well-placed in Group C of the European competition and a win could put more pressure on PSG and Napoli as the two teams will face Liverpool on the final two matchdays of the group phase.

"They were on their bikes and we had to deal with the situation". Last season we were scoring a lot of goals and they were going in and now they're not.

Two weeks later, Red Star - playing in front of a loud and passionate home crowd - kept Liverpool's fearsome attacking unit quiet and, in Pavkov, had their own star striker.

Klopp opted to rest Roberto Firmino and give Sturridge a rare start, but he endured a hard game.

There was to be no way back for Liverpool as the Red Star fans celebrated a famous victory. Liverpool try to turn home the rebound but it won't quite drop for them and Red Star hack it to safety.

Swiss footballer Shaqiri, 27, is an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo, where a Serbian crackdown on the Albanian population resulted in a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military intervention in 1999.

A deflected Andy Robertson cross struck the Red Star crossbar in the second period while Mohamed Salah struck the post with a shot from the edge of the box.

The last thing Klopp would want to do is find his side in the Europa League after a start to the domestic season that has left his side just two points behind leaders Manchester City and undefeated after 11 games.
