Breaking Bad Spin-off Movie Will Start Shooting This Month

On the heels of Rick Grimes making his cinematic debut, we're going back to everyone's favorite roving meth lab with a Breaking Bad movie; thus begins the AMC cinematic universe.

The Journal also reports that the project now has the working title Greenbriar - though that could just be a holding name. Nobody's sure if it's a prequel, a continuation of Aaron Paul's narrative or something completely parallel and only tangentially related.

Production is set to being in Albuquerque in mid November and continue until early February, the Journal says. THR reports that Gilligan is writing the script for the film, which will be set in the existing franchise and, according to the site, involved "the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom".

Will Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston return for the project? In the latter role, he'll be working alongside Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, executive producers on Breaking Bad spin-off series, Better Call Saul. The highly-acclaimed, award-winning hit show from the AMC network has been resurrected after 5 years, now as a full-length Breaking Bad feature film. "For years, we've built up the film industry in New Mexico and strengthened our film incentives; now, we're seeing success after success for the film industry in our state".

It is also unclear if the movie's plot will pick up right where the series ended up in 2013 or whether the story will be a prequel similar to AMC's recent "Better Call Saul" series.

He said: "I think there's an excellent chance of any or all of these folks showing up.[but] you will not see Walt or Jesse in Season 4 of "Better Call Saul". You can really tell Gilligan and his crew take great pride in the story, so I have absolute confidence that this movie will meet fan expectations.
