Queen Elizabeth Reportedly Invites Meghan Markle's Mother Doria Ragland for Christmas

The Queen has invited the Duchess of Sussex's mother Doria to join the Royal Family for Christmas at Sandringham.

Although this particular dinner at the Norfolk estate is an annual event, many royal insiders note the significance of the "thoughtful gesture" - Her Majesty has never extended an offer like this before, not even to Prince William's in-laws, the Middletons.

Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland has reportedly been invited by the Queen to spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham.

The Queen's invitation would show respect and also acknowledge that Meghan, unlike Kate, has no other family in Britain, the source said.

American social worker Doria was the only member of Meghan's family in attendance at her and Harry's wedding after Thomas Markle (74) was unable to walk his daughter down the aisle due to health reasons, The Sun reports.

The same profile also reveals that the Duchess of Cornwall (and her husband Prince Charles) were early supporters of Prince Harry's marriage to Meghan Markle.

The invitation is fuelling speculation that Doria - who is now based in Los Angeles - may remain in London for the duration of Meghan's first pregnancy.

He later said he had apologised to both Harry and Meghan and denied staging the shots for money, insisting they were taken in a bid to "change his image".

In addition to being her first as a royal, the holiday will also be Markle's first as an expectant mother, as the Duchess of Sussex is now pregnant with her first child with Harry.
