Newlyweds die in helicopter crash leaving their wedding

Uvalde Police received a call from an aviation monitoring center around midnight Saturday notifying them of a possible downed aircraft.

The newspaper reported that the Bylers were both in their senior year at the university. The couple was killed as well as the pilot, Fox News reports.

According to the couple's wedding website, they were to be married Saturday in Uvalde, where the Byler family ranch is located.

Mr Byler's grandfather, William Byler, told the TV station the couple died when a helicopter that had departed from the wedding reception crashed.

"Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with this family at their great loss", it reads. "Our hearts hurt now, but we know this is not forever".

Jessica Stilley, Ackerman's maid of honor, also took to Facebook to express her grief after the tragedy.

"So thankful we got to spend these last few days with y'all".

Another guest posted photos of the bride, in a mermaid gown and floor-sweeping veil, leaving her ceremony beaming, dancing with her bridesmaids and kissing her new groom on the dance floor.

The National Transportation Safety Board tweeted it is investigating the crash of the Bell 206B, as well.

One wrote on Instagram: "I have peace in the fact that you left this earth so full of happiness and love".

A November 3 wedding date was listed on a website for the Ackerman and Byler nuptials.
