Software bug causes Pixel 3 XL to gain a second notch

If one big notch didn't attract enough criticism towards the Pixel 3 XL then the second notch will. Clicking on the option will bring a black bar on top of the screen in place of the notch. This week, some Pixel 3 XL users reported a software bug, causing a second display notch to appear on the side of the screen. But the one thing nearly everyone agrees on is the notch: the ugly cutout is the phone's worst feature.

The user also posted a picture of the Pixel 3 XL with that extra virtual notch on the left side of the phone. Some users claim that when simply rotating the phone between portrait and landscape modes, which forces a screen refresh, the additional notch will disappear, while others claim that a full reboot is needed to make it go away.

At the beginning of August, Google outlined some guidelines mostly concerning notches.

Google says it's aware of the glitch, and a fix is coming soon.

Besides this, users will be able to purchase the newest Pixel series phones through No Cost EMIs, for up to 18 months, bundled with 5 per cent cashback.

The Pixel 3 is the latest in Google's line of premium flagship smartphones.

The glitch may sound like a (particularly cruel) prank or an incredibly far-fetched hoax, but the search giant behind the making of the divisive Pixel 3 XL has already confirmed it's a thing with a fix on the way.
