Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma thrash West Indies with eight wkts to spare

WI 322/8 after 50 overs, India vs West Indies, 1st ODI Live cricket score: The five-match One Day International (ODI) series between India and West Indies will commence at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati today.

India chased down the 323-run target easily thanks to captain Virat Kohli and Rohit's hundreds, with 47 balls to spare.

Regarded as one of the classiest batsmen ever, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma can dismantle any bowling attack without much ado.

Commenting on another brilliant partnership with deputy Rohit, Kohli said that it was always a joy to bat with Rohit in the middle.

The hosts didn't get off to the best start when debutant pacer Oshane Thomas (1-83) bowled Shikhar Dhawan (4) early. India dominated with the bat throughout the innings as Rohit remained unbeaten on 152 while Virat was dismissed for 140. The skipper was well supported by opener Rohit Sharma, who initially played a subdued role, but went ballistic once his captain was dismissed. 320 targets are very tricky, but we knew we could do it with a big partnership.

India's batting mainstay was finally out when leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo got one to turn past Kohli's bat with wicketkeeper Shai Hope completing a smart stumping. Kohli smashed 21 fours and 2 sixes.

"Feels pretty good. Very convincing win for us".

The Delhi-based cricketer had scored a ton in the fifth and final Test against England in August before scoring 92 twice in the recently-concluded Test series against West Indies. When Rayudu came he took that role and Rohit took over from me. It happens rarely when he (Rohit) plays second fiddle. I don't want to be too harsh on the bowlers, but yes, we could have applied a bit better and bowled better in the last few overs. "That is something to learn for us", Kohli said after the match.
