How Ohio State football players reacted to Nick Bosa's early NFL decision

An injury gave Nick Bosa time to think about his future, and the defensive end decided that it does not include returning to Ohio State. A later update from Bosa's father was that Bosa would be out at least until being re-evaluated in November.

With Bosa out of the lineup, Ohio State has relied more on defensive end Chase Young.

"I was hopeful that Nick would be able to return to play again for us", Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said in a release.

Ohio State's defense hasn't been the same since Bosa's departure.

There's a lot to talk about around the Ohio State football program these days. The Dispatch added that Nick Bosa told Meyer and some of his staff of his decision on Sunday. Later this week, Nick Bosa plans to move to southern California to stay with Joey, who plays for the Los Angeles Chargers, and work on his rehab with the goal of being ready for the scouting combine workouts in February.

When taking that variable into effect, Bosa's season ended on September 15 regardless of his likelihood as the No. 1 pick looming.

Bosa racked up four sacks, recovered a fumble for a touchdown and forced a fumble returned for a touchdown by a teammate in three games to start the season.

Nick Bosa had tied his career high of five tackles twice in the first three games this season, and he was leading the team in tackles with 14, including six for losses.

"He is a first-class young man who we have been honored to coach", the statement reads in part.
