Red Sox troll Yankees with celebration music

After 63 seconds that felt like a lot longer, crew chief Mike Winters heard the decision, took off his headset, raised his right fist and made it official: The Red Sox beat the Yankees 4-3 Tuesday night to win the AL Division Series 3-1, setting up a postseason rematch with the World Series champion Astros. NY found itself in a 4-0 hole during a win-or-go-home Game 4 in Yankee Stadium, and despite coming close to a dramatic ninth inning comeback, the Red Sox sealed their ALDS tilt with a 4-3 victory.

A night after Boston romped to a record-setting 16-1 rout in a game that included three replay reversals, Martinez, Ian Kinsler and Nunez drove in runs in the third inning off a wobbly CC Sabathia. "He was bad behind the plate (Tuesday). He shouldn't be anywhere near a playoff game".

Asked if Hernandez was the reason the Yankees lost, Sabathia replied, "Not at all".

The career Major League Baseball umpire was stationed behind the plate for Tuesday's ALDS Game 4, just one day after he had three close calls at first base overturned in. "He was awful at first base [in Game 3]". Many players have been critical of Hernandez as an umpire in the past, and prominent former players including newly enshrined Chipper Jones expressed their disapproval during Monday's game. We just got to continue to improve on the margins in every facet.

Hernández was Game 4's home plate umpire while Sabathia was on the mound.

In possibly his final start of a 10-year run with the Yankees, Sabathia allowed three runs on five hits in three innings. "I thought Angel Hernandez called a good game". "You gotta put the ball over the white part of the plate and then you get the strikes called".

"I don't think Angel Hernandez should be umpiring playoff games", Sabathia told reporters, according to Jack Dickey of Sports Illustrated. The case was moved last week from southern OH, where Hernandez's lawyer initially filed it, to NY after U.S. District Court Judge Michael R. Barrett ruled in favor of the league.
