Venom (2018) movie box office updates

Venom has shattered a North American box office record in October with an $80 million opening weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But it seems to have resonated much more with moviegoers: it has a B+ score from viewers on CinemaScore, and in the United States it easily shattered Gravity's record to earn the best October opening of all time. The film holds a 31% score on review site Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus reads, "Venom's first standalone movie turns out to be like the comics character in all the wrong ways - chaotic, noisy, and in desperate need of a stronger attachment to Spider-Man".

There are many astonishing things about A Star Is Born - from its chest-thumping live scenes, to Lady Gaga's stellar performance, and its impressively catchy set of original songs.

"Venom" and the critically acclaimed "A Star Is Born" were both able to draw effectively from beyond their core audiences. All of which suggests the aliens are going to absolutely love the Venom/A Star Is Born cross-over film someone is frantically pitching as we speak.

Though Venom's domestic haul is impressive, its $125.2 million earnings overseas during its opening weekend further bolsters its total opening weekend gross to $205.2 million, Variety reports. However, the role also came with a bit of pressure, especially because Shangela said Gaga "handpicked" her to be in the film. It has a 90% rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
