What Rocky Fielding Said When He Was Offered The Canelo Fight

Canelo, who added the WBC Middleweight title last month after another epic fight with Gennady Golovkin will be looking to add to his legacy.

It appears the move to super-middleweight has been planned all along by Canelo however with the fight against Fielding with early reports suggesting Alvarez plans on staying at 168lbs for a while.

The news come as a surprise as Alvarez had just won the middleweight titles and some had expected Alvarez to defend his titles against former middleweight champion David Lemieux.

Canelo Alvarez celebrates after his majority decision win over Gennady Golovkin during their WBC/WBA middleweight title fight at T-Mobile Arena on September 15, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I'm very excited to announce my next fight", Mexico's Canelo tweeted Friday, revealing the bout will be held at Madison Square Garden. "Next December 15th at the New York MSG", Alvarez wrote.

His fight with GGG was the last of his contract with HBO.

Fielding has been riding a massive wave of momentum since getting stopped by Callum Smith in late 2015. He will take on Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) for the super middleweight championship.

With Fielding being a member of the Matchroom Boxing roster, it gives some the thought that this will be Alvarez' debut on DAZN, who have a broadcast partnership with Eddie Hearn's promotional company.

Fielding has lost just once in a 28-fight career, though he has boxed more domestically, before winning his world strap against Tyron Zeuge in July.
