Chelsea and Liverpool march on as Burnley stutter in Premier league

Even as manager Maurizio Sarri talks up the contribution of a player, in his prime at 27, who has shown no public indication that he will commit to Chelsea beyond 2020.

Chelsea were inspired to a 4-1 comeback win over struggling Cardiff by Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Giroud is yet to find the net for Chelsea this season but already has three assists in five Premier League games, with the Blues boasting a 100 per cent league return under new head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard would be capable of scoring 40 goals this season if he was playing for Liverpool or Manchester City, says Stuart Pearce.

Chelsea have looked really risky in attack with Eden Hazard in fine fettle at the beginning of the season.

Asked if Hazard can win the Golden Boot, Sarri said: "I think so". I think he was the best player at the World Cup.

"So I have to organise better the defensive phase and the players have to understand that".

"In the last two weeks I have seen four matches of Cardiff and four matches of PAOK Salonika and for me, I thought [on Friday] Giroud was more suitable for this match and Morata more suitable for the other", Sarri said.

"I know that sounds really simple and straightforward". We should be able to navigate this group easily and I'd therefore like to see some of the fringe players get a game. We knew, especially after the (international) break, it's always very hard to play a good game because you are all a bit exhausted, but at the end we got three points. The Premier League leaders are also prepared to make an exception to their unwritten rule of not offering extensions that run longer than a year, instead handing him two more years over the current duration of his deal. For their characteristics, they are different.

The Chelsea boss has backed Hazard to win the Premier League Golden Boot, and challenged him to score 40 goals in all competitions.

'It's one where we've got to get the best out of what we've got.

"He's one of the best strikers in the world", Pochettino said.

"We looked at how well Manchester City did previous year and thought they'd continue, as they have done".
