Nintendo Switch approaching 5 million sales in Japan

"Due to the powerful natural disaster in Hokkaido, Japan, we have made a decision to delay this week's planned Nintendo Direct", NoA's tweet reads.

Nintendo Thursday morning announced it is delaying the 3DS-focused Nintendo Direct set for Thursday due to the deadly natural disaster that hit Hokkaido, Japan.

Everyone in Japan, stay safe. While he is a multi-genre gamer, there is a special place in his heart for fighting games - particularly the Super Smash Bros franchise.

The reason why this is an important news because it might contain the information regarding Nintendo Switch Online services. The presentation will begin at 3 pm PT, 6 pm ET. Nintendo promised to provide a new date and time "in the near future".

Nintendo also recently announced that it will be temporarily ceasing telephone and online customer support in Japan due to the typhoon. Although it's possible Nintendo may give it another dedicated Direct closer to its release in early December.

Nintendo announced the delay just after midnight PST. U from Wii U to Switch, and it's been a while since we heard much from Yoshi's artsy, craftsy platformer. It's certainly no small feat for the system which has two very big releases on the way later this year with Pokemon Let's Go and Super Smash Bros.
