EPL: Marcus Rashford takes final decision on future with Manchester United

But the youngster is struggling to hold down a regular starting place for his club side, with boss Jose Mourinho preferring Belgium worldwide Romelu Lukaku as his main striker.

The Portuguese is considered to be a hindrance in Rashford's development by some, as he has dipped in and out of the starting XI at Old Trafford, struggling to hold down a consistent first-team place.

Three Lions striker Marcus Rashford seems to have hit some form in the past week, finding the back of the net against Spain and Switzerland and taking his worldwide goals tally to five.

Speaking on Sky Sports during their coverage of England's 1-0 win over Switzerland, as reported by TalkSPORT, Carragher urged the striker to consider a move for the sake of his career.

And Adam believes the young forward has made the correct decision if the reports are true.

"Jose thinks the world of Marcus", he said.

"I understand the difficulties that club managers have".

"Everything he's got - he's got pace, power, he'll learn as he's still young".

"He (Rashford) has still played a lot of football, although maybe not the continuous starts, and I'm really pleased for him that he leaves England full of confidence".

Rashford subsequently went to Euro 2016 as England's boy wonder but only played a cameo role in that tournament and was then largely a substitute at this summer's World Cup.

Rashford has managed double digits in goals the past two seasons, while Ronaldo first achieved that feat in 2005-06, as he turned 21.

"Marcus loves the club and does not want to move but he wants to be a striker or at least play down the middle as a No 10", a United source told the Sun.

It is not as straightforward for Pep as: 'Oh, I'll just give Phil a game.' Every decision you make as a manager has a knock-on effect and I understand how complicated that is.

Rashford has started two games for United this season and will miss the next three - starting with Saturday's away Premier League fixture at Watford - after being sent off in the match against Burnley.
