Tony Finau added to US Ryder Cup team as captain's pick

Tony Finau added to US Ryder Cup team as captain's pick

The 28-year-old was on Monday night confirmed as America's final wildcard for this month's Ryder Cup. "I got the goose bumps when [Furyk] told me, and I'm excited to add my skills and talent to the team - a team that's stacked already". According to the Billy Horschel rule, however, Furyk still has one more pick to make this week.

The U.S. roster for the tournament, which will take place September 28-30 outside Paris, was determined by automatic qualifiers based off rankings after the PGA Championship.

"Hopefully I bring something to the team that can help us bring that Cup back". The team dominated the Ryder Cup last time around and might even be deeper this year, making the team a worthwhile play on the betting lines.

The eight players who qualified on Ryder Cup points are Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Webb Simpson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Bubba Watson. "Thanks for all the support".

Regardless of which player is chosen for the final spot, the USA should have a strong team heading into Paris. And I let the guys on the team know that I'd be a great pick and I'd be ready to go.

Justin Rose, on 17 under, leads by one shot after 54 holes of the PGA Tour event at Aronimink Golf Club, with Team Europe colleague Rory McIlroy and United States hopeful Xander Schauffele poised in a tie for second.

Being included in the high-profile competition is a major breakthrough for Finau, who will turn 29 on Friday and is completing his fourth season on the PGA Tour.

Tony Finau has been granted the last golden ticket. It's been a long time.

With that, Finau was off on a plane bound for home in Utah, a longtime dream still sinking in with every mile.
