Sarri reveals the reasons behind his departure from Napoli

Before Sarri joined Chelsea, he coached Napoli.

Sarri said he could quite easily have remained at Napoli after taking them the closest they have been to winning the Scudetto since 1990.

The Italy worldwide has continued to remain as Sarri's deep-lying playmaker in the infamous 4-3-3 formation that was tried and tested to good effect in Serie A last season.

"I was out for dinner with [Giuseppe] Pompilio, the assistant of [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli, and I was talking to him about whether I should stay or not", Sarri told Il Mattino.

Maurizio Sarri has claimed that he only found out he was leaving Napoli when he saw his successor Carlo Ancelotti paraded on club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis' TV channel.

Sarri has admitted that he wasn't happy when he found out Ancelotti had replaced him but says that he is enjoying a new challenge with Chelsea in the Premier League. We were discussing my future, if I stayed or not.

"Now I have Chelsea though and I'm happy".

"The contract the President [Aurelio De Laurentiis] wanted had a release clause up to May 31, and instead they signed Ancelotti on May 21".

"I didn't win anything in Naples". He said, "Here [football] is totally different, it's a celebration. Here it's a party, it's a pleasure to arrive at the stadium and see supporters wearing different shirts having a beer together".

"I sign autographs for fans of the opposing team on the touchline, before and after the match".

"There are games with so much intensity, physicality".

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has reportedly threatened to quit the Premier League side when the January transfer window opens unless he gets regular playing time at Stamford Bridge. "The English one is a different football from the Italian one, played in extraordinary stadiums".

Ancelotti was brought in supposedly to push Napoli one step further and beat Juve to the Scudetto.
