Liverpool have improved but need to be more clinical, Klopp says

Klopp has made four big money signings, adding goalkeeper Alisson, midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho and winger Xherdan Shaqiri, giving supporters genuine optimism ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool face West Ham tomorrow in their first game of the season. So, we cannot buy any more but we can sell not in the English Premier League.

With the transfer window still open in Italy, Spain, France and Germany, Klopp admits there could be further departures from Anfield.

"How could we say we have to be champions of the league, what about United or the other clubs?" That is likely to play a big part in the early weeks of the season, as players fitness issues provoke tough decisions from managers on who starts, who rests, at least until the worldwide break in September. We can't go there and only win because we are Liverpool. We know that. We have to be more clinical in the right moments, we have to be more aggressive in the right moments.

"We are still Rocky Balboa, not Ivan Drago".

"Step by step, we come closer". It's always my expectation to reach the highest level but it doesn't work all the time, ' Klopp said.

"The champions are Manchester City, they did not lose any players and brought in Riyad Mahrez, that does not make them weaker, we saw the Chelsea game and saw and they were impressive", he said.

"We are the ones who have to do more and fight more - that must be our attitude". We need to improve everything.

"We want to be, it has been clear for ages, champion of England and winning the league but how can we say that? But what about the other clubs?", Klopp opined at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"We did not reach anything yet, we have been in finals and if we get there again we should try to win it".

"Liverpool will give the title a go, they're the second best now, I think they've bought very well, very well", Merson told Sky Sports.
