LA Mayor: President Trump's Star Should Remain on Hollywood Walk of Fame

But now some merry prankster is putting up fake Donald Trump stars all over the place.

On Wednesday, Mayor Eric Garcetti told reporters the star should remain where it is despite the West Hollywood City Council's unanimous vote to remove it. In 2016, 53-year-old James Lambert Otis was videoed destroying the star with a jackhammer and a pickax.

The remains of President Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 25, 2018 in Hollywood, California. Later that month a vandal nearly completely destroyed the star using a pick-axe, and in August the West Hollywood City Council voted in favor of a motion calling for the permanent removal of the president's star, citing "his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country".

Dressed in neon orange construction vests and hard-top helmets, they placed vinyl stickers replicating Trump's star around actual stars on the Walk of Fame, including the likes of late night host Jimmy Kimmel and actor/director Rob Reiner.

"Look this whole politics has turned into a circus and it's back and forth, we get trapped into playing their games of yelling back and forth and symbolic gestures, I'm into real work". "We thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was a joke, but I'm pretty sure it's real", the artist continued.

The Hollywood Reporter tracked down the artist.

The artist and his cohorts, who call themselves "The Faction" and are allies of prolific conservative artist Sabo, spent $1,000 on the stars, which they printed on sheets of floor vinyl with adhesive backing, and their mission was partially financed by "a young and anonymous entrepreneur". A Walk of Fame maintenance crew member said workers began removing the stars at 5 a.m. Thursday, and eventually "found about 50 stars".
