The 23-year-old certainly needs to play regularly and maybe joining Everton is not the worst deal that we could get for the defender.

Everton have completed the signing of Chelsea centre-half Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan.

Zouma arrived at Chelsea in 2014, with a lot of excitement around his talent.

Zouma spent last season on loan at Stoke City but failed to impress, as the Potters were consigned to relegation down to the Championship.

Zouma has made over 100 appearances in English football and Everton will be hoping that he will be able to help rejuvenate their defence for the upcoming season. With his prospects unlikely to improve much at Chelsea this season, a move away from the Bridge makes sense.

The report also adds that Everton have discussed moves for Yerry Mina of Barcelona and Marcos Rojo of Manchester United but neither player is close to joining the Toffees.

Set to don the red of Manchester United? A number of defenders have been linked with the Premier League heavyweights as Jose Mourinho aims to solidify his backline for the upcoming season.

The loan to Stoke City was seen as the flawless move to allow him to regain his match fitness, but it appears as though Zouma is still not in Chelsea's immediate plans.

Everton boss Marco Silva is keen to recruit a new central defender before Thursday's transfer deadline and has turned to Zouma as the club's deal to sign Yerry Mina from Barcelona has stalled.
