West Ham close to agreeing deal to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez

West Ham close to agreeing deal to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez

It will take the club's spending close to £100m as they look to improve on last year's 13th-place finish.

Perez, 29, had returned to Arsenal following a season-long loan at former club Deportivo La Coruna in 2017-18, where he scored nine goals in 37 appearances.

ESPN reporter Eduardo Fdez-Abascal has stated via his official Twitter account that Perez is on the verge of moving to the Olympic Stadium, with him expected to undergo his medical ahead of signing a three-year deal worth an apparent £5m.

"West Ham keeps him in London and in the Premier League, and they are a great club".

According to Italian daily Corriere Fiorentino, West Ham are working on a deal to sign the 32-year-old defensive midfielder and are close to getting a deal over the line.

There were reports that Unai Emery was going to revive the form of Lucas Perez at Arsenal by giving him another chance in this upcoming season but the striker has failed to make an impact in the pre-season matches so the manager might have changed his mind.

Perez was thought to be keen to impress new boss Emery at The Emirates but it seems that the Gunners manager does not see a future for the striker at Arsenal.

The Hammers have splashed the cash to bring in the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Lukasz Fabianski and Issa Diop this summer but want to bolster their squad before the window slams shut at 5pm.
