Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish 'not for sale at any price'

Tottenham Hotspur's late attempt to sign Jack Grealish will come down to whether the player himself can persuade Aston Villa's new billionaire owners to let him go after the rejection of Tuesday night's £25million bid left any potential deal on the rocks.

Grealish featured in Aston Villa's 3-1 Championship win over Hull City on Monday night, but the England U21 worldwide has been linked with a move to the Premier League ever since the Villans failed to win promotion from the second tier last season, and Villa manager Steve Bruce has gone on record saying that he hopes the Midlands club can keep hold of their sparkling midfielder.

Spurs put a bid of £25m in for Grealish, but Aston Villa wasted no time in knocking it back and insisting that they view the talent as not for sale.

There was much uncertainty surrounding the side earlier in the summer under former chairman Tony Xia where the club was in financial trouble.

And considering that situation, Villa are making a statement above anything they previously could have hoped for by resisting offers for their star man.

The north London side ended up third in the table and without a trophy last season.

Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for Grealish, whose future at Aston Villa has been a source of speculation all summer after they failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.
