Ruby Rose will play Batwoman in hit TV event

The character will make her first appearance in the network's latest four-way Arrowverse crossover event, set to air in December. It has now been confirmed that The Meg star Ruby Rose will play Batwoman.

The CW has found a star for its Batwoman standalone series within the confines of the Arrowverse. Dries executive produces alongside Berlanti Prods.' Berlanti and Sarah Schechter as well as former DC Entertainment president Geoff Johns via his new Mad Ghost Productions banner. Striking fear into the criminals she fights, Kate is someone who must also fight the complications of living a double life, both as a citizen and hero of Gotham.

It was at this year's CW upfront presentation that Stephen Amell, the Green Arrow himself, announced that Batwoman would be introduced in the crossover that will bring together Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl for another big event.

DC Comics shares more about the Kate Kane/Batwoman character who Rose will be playing in the crossover, and most likely, in the highly anticipated Batwoman series. But the introduction of Batwoman is groundbreaking. The solo series, by writer Greg Rucka and artist J. H. Williams III received much critical acclaim, and was one of the most high-profile LGBTQ characters in comics. She would reappear in the '70s but was eventually killed off for good.

Tweeted one person: "No tea no shade, but is Ruby Rose the only lesbian actress Hollywood knows, or do they just don't want to take any chances by hiring an unknown lesbian actress and giving her a chance to rise in her career?" On film, Batwoman appeared in Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, voiced by Kyra Sedgwick, a 2002 direct-to-video animated film based on animated series The New Batman Adventures.

"Kate is fully aware of how bad-ass she is whenever she enters a room, even though she prefers to put a smile on your face". I'm pretty sure she may have secretly actually been Batwoman this entire time.
