In it, Depp plays LAPD detective Russell Poole as he nvestigates the murder of the iconic rapper Biggie Smalls the year after the murder of Tupac Shakur. The movie was slated to release early next month, but it now looks as though it has been delayed indefinitely. Lawyers on both sides of the lawsuit are currently hashing out negotiations in an attempt to settle, but as of now, no new release date has been specified by distributor Global Road. There could be some problems arising from the subject matter of the movie. As a result, it's unclear when or if the film will be officially released.

City of Lies, the thriller starring Johnny Depp as a detective investigating Notorious B.I.G.

"In search of the truth, the two team up and unravel a growing web of institutional corruption and lies", reads a line from the movie's description. Depp previously faced allegations of domestic violence from his ex-wife Amber Heard. New reports claim City of Lies no longer has a release date. We'll know more once Global Road makes a statement, which will probably be sooner rather than later.

Johnny Depp opens up about his divorce and claims of his lavish spending.

The project was a weird one for Depp, who has mostly been sticking to blockbusters like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Murder on the Orient Express as of late.

"City of Lies" had been scheduled for release September 7, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, that release has been pushed back with no new date set.

The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Rockmond Dunbar and Neil Brown Jr, with the script based on the book LAbyrinth by Randall Sullivan.
