Humidex values reaching 40 are expected.

Overnight temperatures are only expected to fall between 20 C and 24 C, providing minimal relief from the heat.

A heat warning for Sunday and Monday has been issued by Environment Canada.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to be between 30 and 33 degrees, with the humidex pushing them to above 40 degrees.

Heat warnings were also in effect Monday afternoon around Westlock and Bonnyville, and south to the USA border near Cardston, Lethbridge and Cypress Hills Provincial Park.

According to the forecast, humid air mass will move South of Ontario and will remain there until until Tuesday, August 7, will be replaced by a cold front.

"Other groups at risk include people with chronic illnesses, individuals with limited mobility or certain mental health illnesses, infants and young children, people on certain medications and those who are homeless".

Heat warnings are issued when high temperatures are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
