Bachelorette Becca Kufrin picks her man and Bachelor Nation does not approve

Becca Kufrin celebrated her engagement to Garrett Yrigoyen, capping Monday's finale on ABC following the usual tears and drama. The Bachelorette was forced to discuss politics.

Early in the season, it was revealed that Garrett had "liked" some questionable memes on Instagram. Becca defended him, saying that it's not who he is.

After Becca's date with Blake, it seemed she might choose him instead.

Yrigoyen would then arrive on the beach, learning that Kufrin had chosen him. But please never ever mention anything to do with actual political opinions.

At the time, Kufrin asked fans to give Yrigoyen a chance. She then said that she's not ready to say goodbye to Yrigoyen. Likewise, Yrigoyen's declaration of love to Kufrin: "You don't give me butterflies, you give me eagles in my stomach". "Some stuff came out about my social media, and I didn't realize the effect behind a double tap or a like on Instagram". After stirring up a bit of a scandal by liking some offensive posts on Instagram, Garrett was put through the wringer when an unnamed friend of the former couple told Life & Style that he essentially quit on their marriage after just a few months.

"I'm very sorry, I didn't meant to hurt anybody's feelings". "I think it would just be a fun adventure to live somewhere else, and he has family in California so we would still be near them, but we still have to figure out where, what we're going to do, everything like that", Becca said. In fact, Becca said it forced them to have hard conversations and actually brought them closer together."It's a challenge that we had to overcome, and it's been a hurdle, but we have pushed through, and we have talked about it", Becca said.Though Becca may have bought Garrett's apology, fans? "We're growing, we're progressing".

You've got a DVR? I did not mean any harm by any of it.

Blake is the first one at the dock, which means he's not getting picked and the viewing population knows for the final hour and 20 minutes who wins, yet we still watch.

"We've been honest and open and transparent with one another since the beginning". Upon arrival, Becca tells her family that she loves both Garrett and Blake and while her family Googles whether bigamy is legal in the Maldives, Uncle Chuck reminds viewers that they saw Becca get publicly dumped by Arie last season, so it's all uphill from there, right? Becca and Garrett have already taped the Jimmy Kimmel show together and they are still engaged. Becca says about herself, with Garrett, "I can be all of Becca".

"It was tough because it wasn't just affecting me, but it was affecting her", Garrett said. Her sister told her Garrett was "incredible", adding, "I felt like I had known him for years".

But The Bachelor franchise has alwaysbeenpolitical. It's also always pretended that it's completely neutral and none of those things exist. With some careful elisions, thoughtful reframings, and a promise that they'd grow together, Kufrin, Yrigoyen and The Bachelorette rewrote a story about harmful right-wing troll content into an against-the-odds tale of true love.
