More Guardians of the Galaxy Cast Members Support James Gunn

Disney severed its ties with Gunn after right wing activists online resurfaced years-old tweets in which the director had made jokes about pedophilia and sexual assault against children.

'It's also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis, ' Bautista continued, referring to the right-wing commentator Mike Cernovich, who dug-up Gunn's decade old tweets. Working on those movies made my brother a better person, and they made me one too.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Dave Bautista knows the franchise's "Vol. 3" will likely go on without director James Gunn who was sacked by Disney- but he says it's not what he 'signed up for'.

While appearing at an Emmy celebration on Saturday, actor, Kurt Russell, reportedly defended former "Guardians of the Galaxy" director, James Gunn, amid controversial tweets that surfaced from his past.

In the weeks since then, Gunn's been garnering a good amount of support from folks around the film community, though perhaps most importantly, he had the support of his Guardians cast. The cast released a joint statement on July 30 but Batista has been the most vocal in his support for Gunn.

Metro UK have contacted Dave Bautista's reps for comment.

Asked by a fan on Twitter what he plans to do if Gunn is not reinstated, he replied: "I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for".

Gunn was sacked after a handful of almost decade-old tweets resurfaced in which he made lewd jokes pertaining to pedophilia and rape.

Dave has been particularly outspoken about Gunn's firing and previously tweeted that he was "not OK" with his removal.

'He has a wonderful heart and a wonderful mind.

Disney has yet to say who will direct Vol. 3, but Variety reports it's unlikely they'll rehire Gunn. "I hope he is forgiven".
