EA issues apology after removing Kaepernick's name from song in Madden 19

It arguably does more harm than just including the lyric, which is simply a creative move from an artist and not some sort of representation of Kaepernick in the game. EA Sports and Madden NFL decided brought together two of the best from the world of the NFL and Madden for a little real-world football challenge.

That appears to be the case after a Twitter user uncovered a odd quirk in "Madden NFL 19", EA Sports' popular football video game which will be released to the public August 10.

The song, "Big Bank" by YG featuring 2 Chainz, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj, is one of several songs featured on "Madden 19".

"Feed me to the wolves now I lead the pack and shit/ You boys all cap, I'm more Colin Kaepernick", Big Sean's original line goes. For The Win reached out to EA Sports and will update with a response.

Big Sean addressed in a tweet later Thursday, describing the decision as "disappointing and appalling".

Regardless, it's odd for EA Sports to remove his name from the song as if it's some sort of expletive. "Members of our team misunderstood the fact that while we don't have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn't affect soundtracks". He sued the NFL's 32 franchise owners in October 2017, accusing the league's leaders of colluding to keep him off an NFL roster. Unfortunately for Colin Kaepernick fans, the superstar was cut from the game's song, which has left mixed reactions as a result.

In a statement from EA Sports, obtained by ESPN Sports Business reporter, the company labeled the move "an unfortunate mistake", which they say "should never have happened". Kaepernick has been the talk of the down for several seasons now ever since he kneeled during the National Anthem in protest of police brutality.
