Demi Lovato rushed to hospital for heroin overdose

Singer and actress Demi Lovato has reportedly been hospitalized for an apparent heroin overdose.

The celebrity news website reports police told them the 25-year-old was taken to an LA hospital from her Hollywood home but her condition is unknown.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded at 11:22 a.m. PT to a medical emergency call on the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in Hollywood Hills, a department spokeswoman said.

TMZ says Lovato was transported from her California home and is being treated.

Lovato was believed to have been sober and free from drugs for six years, until her new single Sober revealed she had relapsed.

In the past, Lovato has spoken candidly in various interviews about her use of cocaine and addiction to alcohol, as well as her struggle with an eating disorder.

TMZ notes that Lovato has fought substance abuse for years.

"To the ones who never left me, we've been down the road before".

Earlier on Tuesday, Lovato's Twitter account posted a video clip promoting a special guest appearance by the star airing on Tuesday night's "Beat Shazam". On the song Sober, she sings the lyrics: "Momma, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore/And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor".

Lovato, 25, has won several awards for her music.

Lovato was scheduled to perform in Atlantic City on Thursday. "I want to be a role model but I'm only human". "I was very proud of her to see her write that song and put it out".

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted that "it breaks my heart that she is going through this".
