Man City boss Guardiola not disappointed about Jorginho failure

Chelsea hijacked City's move for the Italy global and completed a £57m for the midfielder alongside the appointment of Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

Pep Guardiola has refused to rule out targeting another midfielder in the transfer window after missing out on Chelsea's Jorginho.

"My advice is for players to go where they want to go", he told a news conference ahead of Friday's International Champions Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund (9:05 p.m. ET, ESPN2). We tried, but players have to go where they go.

"It would have been a mistake if he'd come here when he wanted to go to Maurizio [Sarri] and Chelsea". If they want to come, that's great but if he wants to go to Chelsea, all the best for him.

A number of City's stars are absent for the pre-season fixture following the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Mahrez, 27, signed a five-year deal to complete his £60m switch from Leicester seven days ago, while former England goalkeeper Hart has spent the last two seasons on loan at Torino and West Ham after falling out of favour with Guardiola.

'Joe is our player. His situation is that he is here. "He's one of the best professionals I've ever seen but at this moment he is with us". If not, he will stay here, ' Guardiola said.

Along for the ride are numerous young players, looking to impress the two-time European Cup winning manager, as well as recently crowned World Cup victor Benjamin Mendy, whose first season in England, after joining from French champions Monaco previous year, was marred by a serious knee injury which reduced him to only eight outings.

'I know it's not easy for him given what's happened in the last period, ' Guardiola added.

"Manchester City players and staff departed for the club's summer tour of the USA earlier (on Tuesday)", City confirmed on their official website.
