Liverpool sign goalkeeper Alisson for world-record fee

New Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is expected at Anfield today to undergo a medical and complete a £67m move from Roma.

Roma and Liverpool are "at a very advanced stage" in finalizing the transfer of Brazil global goalkeeper Alisson for a reported $87 million world record fee for a goalkeeper, according to the Italian club's sporting director Monchi.

"Alisson is in Liverpool but the deal is not done yet", Monchi told the Roma website.

"I'm really happy, it's a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning", Alisson said in a club statement.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family".

Liverpool is pushing hard to build on the momentum off its runner-up finish in the UEFA Champions League (which it incidentally advanced to after a 7-6 aggregate win over Roma, Becker's team), but the reported fee is wild.

Lyon had remained open to selling Fekir to Liverpool, and the midfielder hinted to a fan at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport on Monday that his move could still be on the cards.

Where do you think Alisson will be next season?

Alisson's Anfield arrival appears to have signalled Danny Ward's departure from Liverpool, with Sky sources indicating the Wales worldwide is closing in on a £10m switch to Leicester.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club are unlikely to do anymore transfer business this summer.

It is believed that Hazard could call for a deal similar to that of Neymar's past year when the Brazilian signed with Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona, one that came out to approximately $263 million.

Signing the highly-rated 'keeper for £66.6milllion, the German has made clear his ambition ahead of the 2018/19 season and sent out a warning to his Premier League rivals.
