Liverpool prospect Brewster signs pro contract at Anfield

The England Under-17 global has committed his future to the Premier League club with a long-term deal running to 2023.

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that promising young forward Rhian Brewster has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Anfield.

The former Chelsea man expressed his delight to moments after signing the new deal: "It feels great".

He top-scored with eight goals at the Federation Internationale de Football Association U17 World Cup last October, including one in the final, as England achieved a historic triumph at the tournament in India.

The 18-year-old is now working his way back from an ankle injury he sustained at the start of the year, with the rehabilitation process ongoing. "I'm looking forward to getting back fit and making some appearances", said Brewster. It seems like I've been here my whole life, to be honest.

It is the 18-year-old's first professional contract and he is yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool.

"It's incredible and I can't wait to get started", Brewster told the Liverpool website I [still] remember my first training session.

An ankle injury sustained in January checked his progress but Bundesliga duo RB Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach were rumoured to be interested in Brewster before he committed himself to Liverpool. "It's unbelievable and I can't wait to get started".

The 21-year-old impressed at Hull City on loan last season scoring seven times in 13 games for the Tigers and helped ensure Nigel Adkins and his side avoid relegation.
