Liverpool close in on record €75m deal for goalkeeper Alisson

One of the club's targets was Roma's Allison, but the Brazilian worldwide is now about to close his move to Liverpool, therefore Donnarumma would seem like a suitable candidate to replace the Belgian.

By forking on out Alisson, Jürgen Klopp has ensured that the weakest area of his squad has been strengthened and by signing a 'keeper that is only 25 years old, he has also made sure that the future of Liverpool is secure.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family", said Allison.

He has spent the past two seasons with Roma and played in 37 Serie A games during the 2017-18 campaign.

Alisson kept three clean sheets at the World Cup, though Brazil were eliminated in the quarterfinals with a loss to Belgium.

Alisson underwent a medical and penned a long-term contract on Merseyside on Thursday in a £67m world-record deal for a goalkeeper.

Liverpool sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson for world-record £66.9mn
Great news for Liverpool fans as Roma release statement on Alisson

"[The owners] were quite excited, so we did it", the Reds boss told his club's official website.

"He has nothing to do with the price, we have nothing to do with the price, it's the market, that's how it is and we will not think a lot about it".

"But of course he still has to adapt and age-wise he can improve, the best years are coming in the goalkeeper life, so it's all good". We are really happy to have him here now. "The full package is just good".

In a similar way that Klopp attempted to convince us that Danny Ward would become Liverpool's number one this season, news that Liverpool will conclude their summer transfer business with the signing of Alisson could well be wide of the mark.

Alisson completed his move to Liverpool for £68.8m.
