Google Assistant can now help you keep track of your day

This overview will be updated throughout the day - Android users can access the updates via a new icon that resembles an empty box located at the top right corner of the Assistant app, while iOS users will be shown regular updates as soon as you open the app itself.

Back in the day, Google Now was all the rage as it was a one-stop solution for custom tailored, account-specific stuff and useful for keeping track of various deadlines or ongoing details.

As you'd expect, the data will vary based on the time of day, where you are and your recent history with Assistant.

For instance Google Assistant will provide travel times to places in your agenda or things you have asked Google Assistant.

The Google Assistant can also send proactive notifications on your phone to remind you of important upcoming events.

Google is determined to make its digital assistant more proactive and will "continue to add more useful features to your snapshot over time".

When Google Assistant was first announced, there was a clear division between Google Now and Google Assistant functions.

Google Assistant wants to help you get your day started.

Once updated, open Google Assistant and behold! Here's a complete list of actions for Assistant.

Essentially, the AI is capable of recognizing and answering multiple requests that are nested into one question.

Google's Assistant software is also able to answer follow-up questions on the same topic, in a near-conversation style, but Echo as yet can not.

Google Now used to be the home for all your most useful and timely information. You'll eventually see an overview of your notes and to-do lists (whether or not they're from Google apps), a discovery section for new activities, music suggestions and even your parking spot.

You can turn off the microphone temporarily, too.
