NBA Free Agent Rumors: Isaiah Thomas Agrees To Contract With Nuggets

Thomas had been lingering on the free agent market with few known suitors since his contract expired with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Isaiah Thomas has finally found a new home.

The point guard led the C's to the Eastern Conference Finals and averaged a career-best 28.9 points per game. Thomas regained some of his offensive pop during his brief run with the Lakers, averaging 15.6 points per contest and shooting nearly 40 percent, but was shut down when his ailing hip flared up late in the year.

That season, though, ended with a hip injury, one that delayed his 2017-18 debut until January.

Originally drafted with the final pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Thomas has played in 473 NBA games for the Kings, Suns, Celtics, Cavaliers and Lakers.

After just two months of action, Thomas was dealt to the Lakers at the trade deadline.

ESPN first reported Thomas's signing.

Thomas has been working his way back from a procedure on his hip and if he rebounds on the court this season, he could provide a strong option for the Nuggets while reestablishing his value before becoming a free agent again. But questions remain regarding his long-term health.

The one-year, minimum deal is a gamble for Thomas, though one he may have been forced to take. There, he started just one game, coming off the bench in his other 16 appearances.

Malone had been Thomas' coach during the 2013-14 season in Sacramento, two teams removed from the guard's arrival in Boston.
