Arsenal boss Unai Emery wouldn't guarantee Jack Wilshere starting spot

"I know this player here is important for the supporters and grew up here in Arsenal, but I couldn't guarantee him a place in the starting 11 and because of that he choose to leave here and I respect this".

"He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him".

"The big clubs don't close the [door] or the moment to sign a new player". I explained to him my opinion and how I will want to create the team.

He can play as a defensive or central midfielder and it is an area that Arsenal have needed to improve upon for a few seasons, and he could partner fellow new signing Torreira in that area.

Unai Emery has dropped the biggest hint yet that Aaron Ramsey is set to be a key figure in his Arsenal side going forward.

"Today, we are okay".

"I want to work with Petr Cech, with Bernd Leno, with Emiliano Martinez, with Matt Macey, with Ospina", he said.

"I have said to Ivan [Gazidis], Raul [Sanllehi] and Sven [Mislintat] that I think he is an important player for me".

It remains to be seen if Guendouzi will go straight into the Arsenal first team or spend time out on loan, although the price tag would suggest he could go into the senior set-up despite the step up from Ligue 2 to the Premier League.

"We signed the players who we need, only if one player is a big opportunity for us to sign we can do it", he added. Maybe we can bring in one if there's a very good possibility for them to help us, but the club has done a great job of signing new players and I am happy.

Once Emery has met all his new players, including those back from the World Cup after a holiday, he will make his final choices on who stays and who departs to reduce the current size of the squad.

Emery won the domestic treble at Paris Saint-Germain last season and believes he does not feel he needs to pick the brains of Wenger to find out more about his squad.
