Zsa Zsa dies weeks after being dubbed 'World's Ugliest Dog'

Zsa Zsa, whose bodacious tongue recently won her the 30th annual World's Ugliest Dog Contest, died in her sleep, the English bulldog's owner said Tuesday.

With her crooked underbite and lolling tongue, Zsa Zsa quickly warmed the hearts of the world. He says she appeared fine the day before, so it was a shock.

Zsa Zsa won the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, Calif., on June 23. The American Kennel Club said her breed typically lives eight to 10 years Zsa Zsa was 9. "Sweetest dog I've ever met". "He woke up this morning and found her passed away", Brainard told TODAY.

Even though Zsa Zsa gained fame as the World's Ugliest Dog - which resulted in press appearances like a June 25 Today show segment - she had humble beginnings.

'I picked Zsa Zsa up and took her outside and laid her down in the grass. "We were all saying our goodbyes". Zsa Zsa was staying at Brainard's father's house. She was one of 14 candidates and won over pets who had impressive qualifications, including some that had been featured in films, TV shows, music videos - and one who had it's own IMDB page!

An intimate farewell has already taken place in Zsa Zsa's home in Anoka, Minnesota.

Brainard described the dog's death as "devastating" in an interview with, which first reported the news.
