The loved ones of England's World Cup stars have wished them good luck as they prepare for the biggest game in a generation.

However, Ivan Perisic volleyed in an equaliser 22 minutes from time.

That year, France both hosted FIFA's World Cup and won, beating Brazil 3-0.

"They haven't been there for 28 years". And put in a performance.

"But when you get to this point and play as well as we did in the first half, you want to take those opportunities in life, so the dressing room is a very hard place at the moment".

Vrsaljko, who plays for Atletico Madrid, had struggled to be ready for the match after playing in two previous extra-time matches, but he found the strength to lift his exhausted, battered team to a comeback win.

"They've taken the nation with them".

'The World Cup is 1,000 times bigger today; when we played at the World Cup we weren't even playing much in Europe and had been beaten in a previous tournament by the U.S. 1-0.

"They knew that Belgium was strong on the ball".

"We take it on the chin, we move on".

Prince William wrote from the Kensington Palace Twitter feed that he "couldn't be more proud" of the England players, adding: "You've had an incredible World Cup, made history and gave us fans something to believe in".

Parv Moondi, 49, form Norwich, was also among those trudging out of the Luzhniki and back to central Moscow.

He also said that he would be flying to Russian Federation to watch the final, adding: "I'm just waiting on my visa".

He said: "Well, I think I've said this before, but I was not a renowned fashion icon throughout my playing career, so it's rather unusual to feel that way now".

"This was the dream, we could've made it, we could have done it. They have an excellent coach and excellent players".

"We had our flights booked for next Monday - we booked two flights, we weren't that optimistic, we have flights tomorrow as well". "We worked so hard, the fans were fantastic, it was a tough game, a 50-50 game, when we look back we will think there's stuff we could have done better".

Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson would have been "thrilled" by the progress of the current side at the 2018 World Cup, his widow has said.

In the end, neither Croatia nor England was expected to make it this deep into the tournament, but here they are and France is waiting.
