Suspects Pummel 92-Year-Old Man with Brick in Southern Los Angeles

Rodolfo Rodriguez was on his daily walk near his home when he accidentally bumped into a young girl while trying to pass her on the pavement. Rodriguez is now hospitalized for his injuries.

"Go back to your country, why are you here, bad things", one witness says they heard the mother tell Rodriguez, according to KCBS.

Rodriguez travels to the USA yearly from Michoacan, Mexico, to visit his family in Willowbrook, grandson Erik Mendoza told CNN, which reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was seeking up to five suspects - the woman and three or four men - as of Monday night.

The mother of the toddler pushed Rodriguez to the ground and began hitting him with a brick, KTLA-TV reported.

Los Angeles Sheriff's Department are investigating the attack and have appealed for witnesses.

Borjas added that the female suspect also tried to attack her when she tried to help Rodriguez, using "the same rock" that she had been using on Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said he was walking to a nearby park on Wednesday when he passed a woman and a little girl.

The attack was so brutal that Rodriguez was unable to walk after the suspects ran away, and he now suffers a myriad of injuries, including bruised ribs, a broken cheekbone, and head and neck injuries. Borjas tried to defend the man, but she said that the woman threatened her with a brick.

Police have reviewed the video footage shot by witnesses and are seeking five people in the attack.

Deputy D'Angelo Robinson said that "We are concerned, especially with the type of crime they committed..." Mendoza told the outlet.

The Fourth of July fireworks display was just beginning when Erik Mendoza realized his 91-year-old grandfather was missing.

"How can you hurt a 92-year-old man?" said Mendoza, who told CNN that Rodriguez turns 92 this fall.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page for Rodriguez as he recovers in the hospital.

At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe for Rodriguez has raised over $39,000 - more than double the $15,000 they originally asked for. There are no current leads on the three or four male suspects who beat Rodriguez.
