Putin to attend World Cup final

The Croatians are enjoying their best World Cup since coming third at the tournament in France in 1998 and are aiming to keep the festivities going by beating Russian Federation and booking a semi-final berth against either Sweden or England.

We've analysed them. They have a serious team, who deserve to have reached the quarter-final. "They have worked in our favor and we'll carry on working on them".

It is only the second time that Croatia have reached the World Cup semi-finals. "We are looking into the Fan ID, to see if it's a way of making sure that we know who's entering Qatar", Al Khater said, describing Russia's organization as impeccable.

"It's an adventure", said McNulty.

Robert Prosinecki, a member of the 1998 squad, said: "I would so much like that they be better than us".

The victor in Wednesday's semifinal match at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow will return there for a final on Sunday against France, which beat Belgium 1-0 in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

Modric has been on the front line in painful past failures for the national team, missing a penalty in a shootout as Croatia lost to Turkey in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008. But if you want to get into the last 4 you need a bit more than that and a talented Croatia deserved to progress.

In the run-up to the tournament, the team's poor performance had made it the butt of many jokes in Russian Federation, and a video poking fun at the players was watched 11 million times online. "We have succeeded I believe, but it's time to take a step forward".

Dalic admired the way the Three Lions handled their business in the 2-0 success over the Swedes.

"They breezed past Sweden, they scored twice, they were better", Dalic added of England.

Ahead of their biggest game in a generation, Southgate has told his players the next few days can change their lives for ever. Having dragged Russian Federation back into the tie, with the scores level in the shooutout he dragged his effort wide, allowing Ivan Rakitic to slot home three kicks later and give Croatia the victory. "I felt really relieved", Dalic said.

"They are our heroes, our inspiration, they brought us to this point".

Many on the team were impressive during the tournament, however, and could now demand vastly improved salaries, including Dzyuba, creative midfielder Alexander Golovin and fullback Mario Fernandes.

In Moscow, the area behind Red Square was the unofficial beating heart of this World Cup. We have to enjoy the moment, then tomorrow we prepare for England, we have one day less for preparation.
