Indiana Jones 5 Release Date Moved to 2021

The saga of Indiana Jones 5 has been a long one.

This is the second time the film has been pushed back: It was originally set to hit theaters in July 2019 before being rescheduled for 2020. Solo's Jonathan Kasdan has been reportedly tapped to work on the Indiana Jones script, with a previous draft written by David Koepp.

Before that, Mary Poppins Returns is shifting a week earlier in December this year, and the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is staying in place, but undergoing a minor name tweak to simply Ralph Breaks The Internet. The Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday announced that the planned fifth installment in the "Indiana Jones" franchise will be released in July 2021 instead of July 2020. The consistent theme here is that they still believe this is a movie that needs to come out in the heart of the summer.

Both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are on board for Indiana Jones 5, although Spielberg now has his hands full with a number of other projects, including his West Side Story remake and the religious drama The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.

Indiana Jones 5, which recently saw production delayed, will now be released July 9, 2021. The biggest question mark at this point is Harrison Ford.

While movie fans certainly don't want to think of a world without Harrison Ford in it, the man sadly won't be with us forever.

Spielberg also has a slate of other projects he is now working on, including a remake of musical "West Side Story" and religion drama "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara".
