Giroud hopes 'living legend' Henry manages France some day

"He's quick and strong, a complete defender", Vermaelen said. "We got a boost there".

Giroud insists he will not allow Henry's presence on the opposing bench to distract his focus with a place in the World Cup final at stake.

"Like all the players, they could have a little worry that dates back to playing with their clubs during the season", he said.

"I would have preferred to have Henry on our side, to give me and the other French forwards advice, but I am not too jealous", the 31-year-old Giroud said.

But Henry is neither the first nor will be the last footballer to represent one country as a player and coach another.

Arsenal legend Henry enjoyed a glittering worldwide career, winning the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship. "You have to congratulate France and wish them well for the final". But we will be ready because we have an extremely good state of mind and it is the semi-finals in the World Cup.

The village of Paris just outside the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod is embracing its French links ahead of the World Cup semifinal match between France and Belgium. They have so far scored the most goals in the tournament.

At least 10 players with origin from African continent will feature for France in World Cup semi finals on Tuesday evening even after bungling of African teams out of the competition.

Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he had never even heard of France striker Kylian Mbappe less than 18 months ago but that he now expects football's second-most expensive player to be a world star for the next 15 years.

"He can be unsafe for us but we are going to try and stop him from playing". Villager Elena Vasilyeva says she's cheering on Belgium because "they're a real team".
