George Clooney reportedly injured after motorbike crash in Sardinia

George Clooney was quickly released from a hospital on the Italian island of Sardinia Tuesday after his scooter was hit by a auto, NBC News reported.

Local media reported that he was then taken by an ambulance to John Paul II Hospital, after suffering 'trauma to his knee'. In fact, the actor said in an interview previous year that he fell in love with his wife Amal Clooney after meeting her in the area in 2013.

Sardinian newspaper La Nuova posted a picture from the scene showing Clooney's scooter, a Mercedes vehicle and a fire extinguisher with the caption: "George Clooney in hospital: With his bike he ended up hitting a auto that was turning".

George Clooney was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after falling off his scooter on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Clooney is now on the island filming a new TV series "Catch-22", based off the book of the same name written by Joseph Heller.

George's reps told Metro.co.uk: 'George Clooney was treated and released from an Olbia hospital.

DailyMail.com reports that Clooney's helmeted head smashed into the windshield. Clooney, 57, is serving as director and executive producer on the project, and also plays the role of Scheisskopf.

Immediately after the crash, Clooney was transported to a nearby hospital. George Clooney is almost 60 years old, but he must be built like a soldier.

Local reports say he was on his way to the set when a auto hit the bike he was riding.

"Catch-22" is slated to air next year.
