Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid to join Italian club Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid to join Italian club Juventus

On Tuesday, Real Madrid announced that it has agreed to a deal with Juventus to sell the Portuguese superstar to the Serie A club. I can only thank them for the love and affection I received.

"I think that the moment has arrived to start a new chapter in my life and therefore I have asked the club to accept letting me leave". This is how I feel, and I hope the fans can understand this.

"Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude to a player who has [proven] to be the best in the world and who has made this one of the most brilliant times in the history of our club", the club said in a statement.

Despite the official record books stating that Ronaldo has 450 goals for Real, the club themselves have recognised that their former talisman scored 451 goals during his time in La Liga.

Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid to join Italian club Juventus in a move expected to benefit the Portugal forward's tax return.

In a stunning move that first emerged as a possibility just a week ago and immediately sent shockwaves through soccer, the Portuguese forward committed his immediate future to Juve, victor of the past seven Italian league titles.

On the same day Messi, with whom Ronaldo has long competed for the title of the world's best, was sent home empty-handed by a French side inspired by a breathtaking performance from 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe.

I have thought a lot and I know that the moment has come for a new cycle. One is buying a short-term option like Robert Lewandwoski, whose record at bayern Munich suggests he should be able to make a good portion of Ronaldo's goals.

Ronaldo went on to express his gratitude for the time he has spent at the Bernabeu and insisted the club would always have a place in his heart.

We heard yesterday Juventus president, Andrea Agnelli, boarded a plane and then got a helicopter to see Ronaldo on holiday in Greece, and it looks as though the deal is done.

"Aside from the individual honours, the trophies won and the triumphs on the pitch during the last nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, hard wok, responsibility and self-improvement".

Lopetegui included Odriozola in his Spain squad for this summer's World Cup, but the San Sebastian-born full-back did not feature in any of the team's four matches as they were knocked out at the last-16 stage. It may be recalled here that in semi-finals against Juventus this season it was Ronaldo who had scored a stunning overhead kick in Turin drawing widespread applause from Juve fans.

In March 2014 overtakes Pauleta's tally of 47 goals to become Portugal's record scorer.
