Sacha Baron Cohen reveals promo, premiere date for new Showtime series

"Who Is America?" marks Baron Cohen's first series television project since "Da Ali G Show", which aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and HBO in the U.S. That series and the two movies that spun off from it - "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" and "Brüno" - elevated Baron Cohen to comedy stardom in the U.S.

The more we find out about Sacha Baron Cohen's new secret project, the more people are getting excited ... and maybe a little creeped out.

Showtime, the channel that is set to air the new show in America, have described it as "shameless", "unhinged", and "cold-blooded", and that it might be "perhaps the most risky show in the history of television".

Days after Sacha Baron Cohen trolled President Trump on Twitter, the comedian and actor has revealed that he has a new series called "Who is America?" coming on Showtime.

The details of Sacha Baron Cohen's mysterious comedy show Who Is America? may have only been revealed earlier today but it's already heading overseas. Very nice news you're about to read! "That's the first time I've ever signed a waterboard", he says.

Despite making a name for himself as an outrageous comedian and provocateur, Baron Cohen has been relatively quiet in recent years.

However, this new TV project - apparently titled Who Is America? - could be just the thing to put him back on top.

Cohen's new character and conceit for the show is being kept under wraps for now, but we can't wait to see what he's been up to.

The series begins in America on Sunday, with Channel 4 then showing episodes a night later (from Monday 16th July) in a 10pm slot.
