Billy Dee Williams to Reprise Role as Lando Calrissian in Episode IX

Be that as it may, we're now hearing that after months of rumors and speculation, Billy Dee Williams is confirmed to be returning as Lando Calrissian for Star Wars: Episode IX.

Fantha Tracks first reported the rumor of Williams' return for Episode IX in June.

Williams has in recent years returned to the role that fuels his appearances on the convention circuit, voicing Calrissian in various cartoon series and video games. Billy Dee Williams, who originated the role in Empire Strikes Back, is set to don the cape as Lando in the forthcoming installment of the Disney/Lucasfilm franchise. They will join Star Wars regulars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. The as-yet-untitled film marks the conclusion of the third trilogy of Star Wars film that began in 2015 with The Force Awakens and continued past year with The Last Jedi. Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film will star Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Keri Russell in a now unnamed role.

J.J. Abrams also co-wrote the script with Chris Terrio (Justice League, Argo).

Production on Episode IX will begin at the end of July with more cast announcements likely to be revealed before filming starts.
