July Xbox Update Brings Game Groups and FastStart

Microsoft has launched its Rewards app for Xbox One, which was previously in testing for certain Xbox Insiders, and it's available for you to check and see how many rewards you've accumulated, what you can spend the points on, and a way for you to join the program if you've not yet done so. FastStart prioritizes the files in games which need to be downloaded first, Microsoft says you can expect for FastStart to expand to more games in more languages over the next few months. Again, according to the FAQ, ready to start "is a feature that requires publisher work and may be an inconsistent experience from game to game", which the company is trying to avoid with FastStart. The survival-centric multiplayer game has gone free-to-play on Xbox One, much like the current Steam Early Access version.

However, there are two restrictions worth mentioning with FastStart - it's only available for "select" English-language games for now, and players will need to have at least a 20MB internet connection to take advantage of it. Since then, they've added a lot of content like duo mode and cosmetics - what we've come to expect from other battle royale games - and a skill-based matchmaking system that lets you play with other players that match your level. With Groups, you can create multiple collections of content made up of anything from within My Games & Apps.

As an added bonus, Groups will be tied to your Xbox Live account and will automatically sync across multiple Xbox One consoles.

Mixer streamers can now go full screen with their webcam while broadcasting. The system-wide search feature is also now more accessible, with the new Y shortcut whenever you are in the dashboard.

The update is mostly concerned with making it easier for users to find content, as well as improving Mixer.

In Mixer, users can now Share Controller - or with a PC, with this latest update, users can share full mouse and keyboard bindings, too.
