Trump says he will not invite National Basketball Association champs to White House

Last year, he withdrew an invitation to the National Basketball Association champion Warriors after Curry and several teammates indicated misgivings about attending a White House event. James and Curry said they expect that the winning team will not be visiting the White House.

"I didn't invite them", President Trump said. A new National Football League policy was announced last month that would fine teams if players kneel during the anthem but allow them to stay in the locker room in protest, prompted Trump to say, "maybe they shouldn't be in the country".

On the South Lawn of the White House on Tuesday afternoon, there was to have been a celebration honoring the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, but it turned out very few Eagles actually wanted to be celebrated by Trump. 'It's typical of him, ' James said of Trump.

"I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants an invite, anyway", James said.

Instead, members of the Golden State roster spent their first road trip in the nation's capital touring an African-American history museum with a group of school children.

President Donald Trump said Friday that neither team would be invited. No Eagles took part in last season's kneeling demonstrations, which began as a way for black players to protest police treatment of minorities.

Trump would then go on to list other champions that have visited the White House.

Essentially, the team just ignored Trump.

When asked about the Eagles, Curry said any team that wins a championship will be faced with the decision of whether or not they will travel to the White House.

Pardons have been top of mind for Trump of late, from clearing boxer Jack Johnson to Kim Kardashian-backed Alice Maria Johnson.

"By not going, hopefully that will inspire some change in terms of what we tolerate in this country", Curry said. "It [an invitation] hasn't come up here, but I think I already have my mind made up". Afterward, Trump wasn't happy with the Warriors and went full petty on a Twitter rant that led to the Warriors being no longer invited to the White House. "Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!"
