Both leaders were greeted on arrival by Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

The foreign minister posted a photo showing him with Kim at the place on Facebook.

Cheering crowds greeted Kim during his stroll, and cameras from North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency documented his every move.

USA and North Korean officials have been holding preliminary meetings in the run-up to the Tuesday summit.

Singapore is one of the few countries that have diplomatic relations with both the U.S. and North Korea.

Just hours before what could be the most important meeting of his life, a seemingly relaxed and confident Kim Jong Un took a night on the town in Singapore, taking selfies and being greeted by cheering onlookers.

"I feel that Kim Jong-Un wants to do something great for his people".

Pompeo has not said if Trump would consider withdrawing almost 28,000 us troops from the Korean Peninsula.

"I think the North will denuclearise ... because it knows it has no other alternatives", he said.

Olivia Enos of the USA -based Heritage Foundation is urging Trump to not ignore rights concerns.

The White House says Trump now plans to depart Singapore on Tuesday evening ahead of schedule. India, Pakistan and North Korea are not CTBT signatories. "And he has that opportunity, and he won't have that opportunity again", Trump said.

"This is not the way conventional diplomacy would have been conducted, but perhaps you need two very unconventional leaders to have brought us to this stage", he told the BBC.

Asked Saturday what the benchmark of success is for the summit, he said, "At a minimum, I do believe, at least we'll have met each other".

"I am on my way to Singapore where we have a chance to achieve a truly wonderful result for North Korea and the World", Trump wrote in a pair of tweets.

Pompeo, who has traveled twice to Pyongyang to meet with Kim, told reporters Monday that North Korea has conveyed a willingness to denuclearize.

Sentosa, where the meeting between Trump and Kim will be held, is a former British military fort and now, a tourist attraction with a Universal Studio theme park.
