Trudeau stabbed us in the back: Trump adviser

Kudlow called Trudeau's remarks a "betrayal" and said "he really kind of stabbed us in the back", while Navarro scowled, "There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump". "Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around".

Saying Trudeau is "dishonest & weak", he also threatened "tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" From there I go to Singapore and talks with North Korea on Denuclearization. "But I don't see any fundamental problem in the Canadian-American trade relationship".

"He made an error", Kudlow said on CNN's "State of the Union".

Donald Trump and the White House are going after Justin Trudeau for this G-7 remarks over US tariffs.

Is Justin Trudeau's Left eyebrow falling off?

That move was met with criticism at home, including from Republicans, and announcements of retaliatory tariffs from US allies.

Kudlow, the conservative economist who directs the National Economic Council, was upset with Trudeau's comments at a press conference after the contentious Group of 7 summit in Quebec.

Speaking at his closing news conference, Trudeau says the G7 has agreed to an "ambitious" communique - but he did not immediately release a document or provide details of where the exclusive club of wealthy democracies found common ground.

"This year's G7 meeting is already going down as the G6 + 1, with six members on one side and President Trump on the other", Al Jazeera's John Hendren, reporting from Quebec, said.

Some commentators saw Kudlow's comments as a sign of the Trump administration's bullying tactics, while others accused the economic guru of showing the type of hypersensitivity normally reserved for the right's political enemies.

But Kudlow probably didn't help the message he was sending to the Canadian leader by once referring to him as "Pierre Trudeau".

Bashing the leader of one of America's venerable allies, the White House escalated its trade tirade and leveled more withering and unprecedented criticism Sunday against Canada's prime minister, branding Justin Trudeau a back-stabber unworthy of President Trump's time.

"In a matter of seconds, you can destroy trust with 280 Twitter characters", German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said when asked about Mr Trump's U-turn, adding it would take much longer to rebuild lost trust. The negotiations will either be bilateral or trilateral with Mexico, he said. Trudeau made an error.

"Who picked the fight? I personally negotiated with Prime Minister Trudeau", Mr. Kudlow said. He said Canada has to stand up for itself. From promoting democracy and to fighting terrorism, "we're on the same page".

"Maybe the American president doesn't care about being isolated today, but we don't mind being six, if needs be", said the French President.
