Series of "Stranger Things" books coming from Netflix, Penguin Random House

Netflix and Random House have partnered on a series of books, with Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion and a "hardcover gift book for young readers" due out in autumn. The as-yet-untitled gift book will reportedly offer "advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world", says the publisher.

Presumably, the behind the scenes companion title will give fans a close up look at production and special effects work that goes into creating a series like Stranger Things.

Stranger Things tells the story of a group of young friends living in a small town in IN in the 1980s - and the odd happenings that threaten them all.

The Netflix hit show Stranger Things is getting a novel next year, but rather than focusing on the existing content, it will serve as a prequel introducing stories the show hasn't covered.

This publishing deal will expand the Stranger Things mythos next spring with a prequel book focusing on Eleven's mother and her involvement in the dastardly MKUltra program.

Additional books are scheduled for the latter part of 2019, but this initial run is sure to satisfy those waiting for news about Stranger Things season 3.

It'll be a long wait until Stranger Things season 3 arrives sometime in 2019, but how about a little bit of...unusual reading to bide the time?

Not much is known about season three of the series yet, except that we are to expect a time-jump similar to that between seasons one and two, and that that Francesca Reale, Cary Elwes, and Jake Busey are joining the cast. You can find a primer on what we know about Eleven's mom here.
