Pogba improves but France held by US

France were forced to come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with the United States of America in their final warm-up match ahead of the World Cup finals, with Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe netting a late equaliser for Les Bleus.

Julian Green gave the U.S., who failed to make it to Russian Federation, the lead on the stroke of half-time but teenage starlet Kylian Mbappe equalised for the hosts.

He added: "Paul Pogba has responded rather well to my expectations".

Deschamps has offered assurances over the Chelsea forward's fitness after he was forced off following a clash of heads with U.S. defender - and Blues team-mate - Matt Miazga.

Although France dominated the first period, the USA were quick off the starting blocks in the second and Green had the ball in the net again moments after the restart, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. The team looked solid when it came to creating chances, it just couldn't finish.

The French finally found a way back into the game as Kylian Mbappe was perfectly positioned to tuck home Benjamin Pavard's cross as the sides had to settle for a draw.

"If you're 1-0 up, you're not bringing him on to close the game down".

Australia's World Cup Group C rivals France, Peru and Denmark have all completed their pre-tournament warm-up programs in their final hit-outs before heading to Russian Federation.
